Wendy & Luis; Their Love Lasts for Infinity

Wendy and Luis were married on 8.18.18

The couple first met in Center, Colorado, when Wendy interviewed for the school nurse position at the same school where Luis was one of the principals. Wendy was shocked when Luis asked her out on a date. She accepted. They had dinner at May-Wa in Alamosa, Colorado. Before they knew it, they had been talking for hours and the restaurant was closing for the night. The evening went great and the rest, as they say, is history!

After dating for a year, Luis knew that Wendy was the woman for him to spend infinity with. His elaborate proposal took place on Christmas Eve. Wendy, under the impression that Luis had gone to California to spend the holidays with his family, began preparations for that night’s family dinner she was responsible for cooking. She later noticed something on her car windshield. Upon further inspection, she realized it was a clue, from Luis, not in California. He had gone to his sister’s a few blocks away and planned a valley-wide scavenger hunt for Wendy, that ended in South Fork, Colorado, at the church she was baptized in. Wendy, slightly frustrated because she had been following clues instead of cooking (in fact, she brought the rising bread along for the ride since she wasn’t sure how long she was going to be) was elated to find that at the end of this Christmas Eve scavenger hunt was Luis. When he asked her to marry him, she said, “YES!”

Wendy and Luis knew they wanted a summer wedding and could not wait to be husband and wife. They thought “8.18.18 was an awesome date to be married”. They were married at Wendy’s childhood church, Holy Name of Mary Parish, in Del Norte Colorado. Not only is the church beautiful, it’s where Wendy received most of her sacraments.

Their reception was held at a friend’s ranch and was a BIG celebration; lots of family and even more friends. The newlyweds danced to “God, Your Mama, and Me” by Florida Georgia Line. When Wendy had first heard the song a year prior she knew that when she got married, THIS would be the song for her first dance. It was the lyrics that spoke to her because after all, no one will love Luis as much as God loves him, his mom loves him, and Wendy loves him. The reception continued with dancing and fun for infinity.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be a school nurse in Center! But even in my most wildest dreams I NEVER thought I would meet the man I was going to marry working in Center! God has a plan and it is true what people say... You will find it when you are least expecting it!”

8. The symbol of infinity on its side. Wendy and Luis were married on 8.18.18; infinity times three. As your love continues to grow, always remember that dinner at May Wa, keep with you that moment you knew God’s plan, and continue having fun.
